Landscaping Foreman/Supervisor

Thistle Gardens & Outdoors is your local one-stop-shop for everything you need to design and improve your garden or outdoor space!

Our highly-skilled team has transformed hundreds of gardens and outdoor spaces across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and North-East Scotland – all expertly designed and completely project-managed from start to finish.

In addition to Low-Maintenance Decking, Fencing & Artificial Grass we also provide a wide range of Landscaping services, including the formation of walls, patios, paving and steps.

We are currently looking for an experienced Landscaping Foreman/Supervisor to join our Installation Team.  The ideal candidate will have excellent practical experience in all aspects of landscaping work and will be able to coordinate the procurement and scheduled use of resources such as labour, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget, safety guidelines and quality standards.

The skills, experience and responsibilities required for this role include:

  • Ensuring health & safety regulations and procedures are followed, ensuring a safe environment for everyone working on and around our installation sites.
  • Organisational and planning skills – including supervision of day labourers involved in any projects.
  • Willingness to mentor and train new staff.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Experience in all aspects of landscaping, such as paving (including porcelain), forming walkways and patios, building garden and small retaining walls, gabions, turfing, artificial grass and fencing.
  • Excavating sites and working with logistics to co-ordinate plant rentals, materials and labour.
  • Driving plant vehicles such as small diggers and ensuring that all garden plant and equipment is correctly maintained and serviced.
  • Ability to keep an accurate track of stock and inventory used on each project.
  • Excellent customer relations.
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance to customers on all relevant matters.
  • Flexibility to undertake a variety of tasks and projects.

  • Ensuring health & safety regulations and procedures are followed.
  • Organisational and planning skills – including supervision of day labourers involved in any projects.
  • Experience in the installation of decking and fencing.
  • Experience in landscaping would be a bonus, but not necessary.
  • Excellent customer relations.
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance to customers on all relevant matters.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.
  • Flexibility to work with other teams and assisting with landscaping work if required.

Kitchen Sales Consultant

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Kitchen Sales Consultant to join the Thistle Kitchens & Bathrooms team, working from the Thistle Home Improvements Showroom in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

As a Kitchen Sales Consultant you will be responsible for turning our customers’ dream kitchens into reality by utilising your expert product knowledge, considerable design experience and the latest 3D kitchen design software.

We are particularly interested to hear from applicants who already have direct experience and a proven track record in Kitchen sales.

This role will require the successful candidate to:

  • Engage directly with customers visiting the Thistle Home Improvements Showroom in Aberdeen.
  • Carry out home visits to take project measurements and detail customer requirements.
  • Expertly design and quote kitchens using the latest 3D Design Software (Compusoft Winner).
  • Communicate effectively with our customers and deliver a design and quotation service tailored to their specific needs.
  • Provide continual feedback to our management team so that our kitchen design and quotation service effectively meets the ever-changing needs of our customers.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring our customers’ satisfaction, maintaining a keen interest in all projects and acting as a focal point for our customers, from initial quotation to final installation and beyond.

The skills required for this role include:

  • Experience in a customer-facing role with a proven track record in sales.
  • Excellent kitchen product knowledge and a keen eye for design.
  • A high level of experience with kitchen design software and pricing/quotation packages – first-hand experience with Compusoft Winner would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent computer & IT literacy.
  • Resilience and a can-do attitude to problem solving.
  • Flexibility and adaptability – no two customers’ requirements are ever the same!
  • Professionalism and the ability to represent the Thistle brand at the highest standard.
